Service Projects
YSOA Service Projects are designed to allow participants the opportunity to be the "hands and feet" of Christ by serving others through basic home maintenance and home repair. In an increasingly apathetic society, we believe one of the best ways to foster "others first" attitudes among students is by engaging their hearts in God-centered acts of service.
The projects are structured in a way that provides direct interaction between the home owners and the work crews. We believe this direct interaction creates a unique, three-fold intimacy between the Holy Spirit, the work crews, and the home owners. Oftentimes work crews feel the blessing they receive through their interaction with one another and the families involved is even greater than that of the homeowners themselves.
Service Projects strengthen group camaraderie while increasing one's physical, emotional, and spiritual strength. In many instances, individuals will acquire new construction and leadership principles which they will find beneficial later in life. By putting others first, many lives are changed in the midst of one God served.
Service Projects are custom tailored to fit each group. Projects are selected based on group size as well as the group's past experience. Service Projects will be chosen from a bank of available projects.
Examples of service projects include:
- Interior / Exterior Painting
- Basic Yard Maintenance / Yard Clean-up
- Porch Repair / Porch Construction
- Handicap Accessible Ramps
- Drywall
- Roofs
- Siding
In addition to home-based projects, we also offer trail & camp maintenance projects.
